Restorative Dentistry

A Smile, Restored to Function

There is a weight to the space where a tooth used to be.

It is not just the absence.

It is the subtle shift in how you speak, the hesitation before a meal, and the way a smile becomes something you manage rather than something you share.

Tooth loss is rarely just about a gap. It changes the structure of the face — the way the lips rest, the way the jaw finds its rhythm.

Denture therapy, at its finest, is an act of restoration. It brings back balance — to how you eat, how you speak, and how your smile sits naturally within your features.

At Dentalis, dentures are approached with that understanding. A bespoke prosthetic — crafted with the precision of an artisan and the clinical rigour of a specialist.

Understanding Dentures

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable dental prosthetics designed to replace missing teeth and restore oral function.

Dentures remain a widely used and reliable solution for patients with multiple missing teeth, especially when a non-surgical option is preferred.

Restore chewing

Recover the ability to eat comfortably

Improve speech

Restore clarity and confidence when speaking

Support facial structure

Prevent the sunken appearance of tooth loss

Prevent shifting

Stop neighbouring teeth from drifting out of position

Why Act Early

Why Replace Missing Teeth Early

Missing teeth affect more than appearance. Over time, gaps can lead to:

Shifting of neighbouring teeth

Gaps allow adjacent teeth to drift inward over time

Changes in bite alignment

The jaw compensates, often unevenly

Increased strain on remaining teeth

Missing teeth shift chewing load unevenly

Gradual loss of facial support

Lips and cheeks can appear sunken over years

The structure of the face may also gradually change, as the lips and cheeks lose the support that teeth once provided. The longer tooth loss is left unaddressed, the more these changes compound.

Replacing missing teeth early helps preserve balance — not only within the mouth, but across the face as a whole.

Your Journey

How Dentures Are Made at Dentalis

Dentures are created through a structured, step-by-step process — with clarity and precision at every stage. Nothing is rushed, and every fit is refined to ensure lasting comfort.

Full Denture Timeline

5

clinical visits

4–6

weeks from scan to fitting

Where prior extraction is required, add 8–12 weeks for gum and bone healing before the scan appointment.

Customise your dentures at Dentalis in Singapore CBD
  1. Consultation

Your dentist assesses the number of missing teeth, gum health, bite alignment, and suitability for dentures — before any plan is proposed.

  2. Gum & Bone Healing If Extraction Required

If remaining teeth need to be extracted first, a healing period of approximately 8 to 12 weeks is required before denture fabrication can begin. This allows the gum and bone to stabilise into their final shape — ensuring the denture is fitted to a stable foundation.

  3. Intraoral Digital Scan

After healing (or immediately, for patients who do not require extraction), a precise intraoral digital scan is taken. This forms the master record for the laboratory fabrication. Dentalis uses iTero Lumina Pro scanning technology where appropriate.

  4. Design & Fabrication

The denture is crafted in a dental laboratory, matched precisely to tooth shade, gum colour, and bite relationship. Each prosthetic is personalised — not generic.

  5. Fitting & Adjustment

The denture is fitted and refined to ensure comfort, proper bite, and stability. Minor adjustments may be needed during the adaptation period — we remain available throughout.

Dr Jonathan Liu, Principal Dentist and Founder at Dentalis Singapore

"Denture therapy is often treated as a last resort — but that framing doesn't serve patients well. A well-designed denture restores chewing, supports the face, and returns confidence. When it fits properly, most patients tell me they forget they're wearing one. That is what we aim for: a prosthetic that disappears into function."

Dental Implants as an Alternative

For patients who prefer a fixed solution, dental implants may be MediSave claimable up to S$1,950. They offer a longer-term, non-removable replacement.

The right choice depends on your oral health, goals, and budget. We will give you a clear, honest picture of all your options before any decision is made.

At Dentalis, the starting point is clarity — a clear understanding of your options, and a plan designed to restore function with the least necessary intervention.

Facial Harmony

Dentures and Facial Support

Teeth play an important role in supporting the structure of the face. Tooth loss can cause facial muscles to lose support, sometimes resulting in a sunken appearance.

Well-designed dentures help restore:

  • Lip support
  • Facial proportions
  • Overall balance and symmetry

At Dentalis, denture planning considers not just teeth — but how your smile sits within your face.

Caring for Dentures

Proper denture care helps maintain comfort and extend the longevity of the appliance:

  • Clean dentures daily
  • Remove dentures before sleep
  • Attend regular dental check-ups
  • Keep dentures hydrated when not worn
  • Avoid very hot water or abrasive toothpaste

With proper care, dentures can remain functional and comfortable for many years.

Choosing the Right Solution

Dentures, Implants — and When Each Makes Sense

Not every patient needs the same solution. Dental implants offer a fixed, long-term replacement — but they involve surgery, longer treatment timelines, and higher cost. Dentures provide a less invasive alternative, restoring function without surgery.

Dentures may be recommended for patients who prefer a non-surgical tooth replacement option, have multiple missing teeth, or may not be suitable candidates for dental implants. The right approach depends on your oral condition, goals, and comfort with treatment. Learn about dental implants and MediSave →

Other options, such as dental bridges, may be considered when only a small number of teeth are affected.

Smiles That Speak a Thousand Words

Real people. Honest five-star feedback on dentures at Dentalis.

★★★★★

“I did my dentures with Dr Jonathan Liu and so incredibly happy with the results. Tried many dental clinics — all disappointing — so one of my biggest worries was finding a comfortable fit, and he exceeded my expectations by far. The dentures feel natural and secure. It is comfortable that I barely notice them throughout the day. Highly recommended.”
