Careers at Dentalis · 52 Craig Rd, Singapore CBD

Orthodontist

We are looking for an orthodontist who practises the full breadth of the discipline — from fixed appliances to clear aligners — in a clinic ready to support both.

Dentalis is a Certified Invisalign Provider seeking an orthodontist to introduce and lead fixed orthodontic treatment alongside our existing clear aligner practice. You will fit patients for braces and other orthodontic appliances, collaborate with our principal dentist and visiting specialists, and help shape what orthodontic care at Dentalis becomes. Full-time or part-time.

The Full-Time or Part-Time Position

The Dentist Role

This is a proper orthodontic position — not a clear-aligner-only role with an orthodontist title attached to it. You will assess and treat patients across the full range of orthodontic presentations: crowding, spacing, bite problems, jaw discrepancies and aesthetic concerns. You will fit braces, manage aligner cases and work with patients from initial assessment through to retention and follow-up.

The role is collaborative. You will work closely with Dr Jonathan Liu on patients who require both restorative and orthodontic treatment, and alongside Dr Albert Lee on cases that combine orthodontics with oral surgery. Treatment decisions are made jointly where appropriate, and the patient experience is managed as a team.

Appointments are unhurried. Records are taken properly. Patients receive a full explanation of their options — including the differences between brace systems, clear aligners and other appliances — before any treatment begins. There is no pressure to steer patients toward any particular treatment based on margin or convenience.

For the right specialist, there is a longer-term path here. Dentalis is at an early stage of growth, and the orthodontist who joins us has a genuine opportunity to shape the programme — and eventually, to have a stake in it.

What You Will Do

Key Responsibilities

Orthodontic Treatment

Clinical care across the full orthodontic range

  • Assess and diagnose malocclusions in adult and adolescent patients — crowding, spacing, overbite, underbite, crossbite and jaw discrepancies
  • Fit, adjust and monitor fixed orthodontic appliances: metal braces, ceramic braces and self-ligating systems
  • Manage clear aligner cases including Invisalign — from assessment through ClinCheck® planning to completion
  • Conduct digital records using iTero Lumina Pro: treatment simulations, scans and progress monitoring
  • Apply photobiomodulation (PBM) as a chairside clinical adjunct where appropriate to support bone remodelling during tooth movement
  • Fit, review and adjust retainers on completion of active treatment

Collaboration & Patient Care

Working with the team and communicating with patients

  • Collaborate with Dr Jonathan Liu and Dr Albert Lee on combined orthodontic, restorative and surgical cases requiring multi-disciplinary input
  • Conduct early orthodontic assessments and space management planning where clinically relevant
  • Advise on treatment sequencing for cases involving extractions, implants or jaw surgery prior to or following orthodontic treatment
  • Educate patients clearly on treatment options, appliance differences, expected timelines, compliance requirements and oral hygiene during treatment
  • Communicate honestly on expected outcomes and risks before any treatment begins

Who This Is For

We May Be a Good Fit If You…

  • Practise across the full orthodontic range — fixed appliances and clear aligners — with equal clinical attention to both, and no preference for one based on what is easier to sell
  • Take pride in detailed diagnosis, careful treatment planning and clear communication of what the patient journey will actually involve before a bracket is bonded
  • Work comfortably alongside a principal dentist and visiting specialists in a collaborative, clinically driven environment
  • Value clinical tools that support precision — and want to practise in a setting that has genuinely invested in them
  • Prefer engaged, motivated patients and unhurried appointments over high case volume and rapid throughput
  • Are interested in being part of something at the beginning of its growth — with the possibility of a genuine stake in what it becomes

If you have found most settings treat orthodontics as a product to sell rather than a discipline to practise, we should speak.

The Clinic

About Dentalis

Dentalis is an independent boutique dental clinic in a 3,000 sq ft, three-storey heritage shophouse in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore's CBD. The clinic was designed to feel unlike a conventional dental setting — unhurried, considered, and clinically serious.

The patient base is CBD-professional: largely working adults aged 28–55 who understand the difference between a carefully planned treatment and a quick commercial solution. Dentalis is a Certified Invisalign Provider with an active clear aligner practice. The orthodontist joining us would introduce fixed orthodontic treatment — braces, space management and related appliances — expanding the scope of care we can offer this patient base.

Dr Jonathan Liu (BDS NUS, 25+ years, 10,000+ patients) leads clinical care as principal dentist. Dr Albert Lee Ming Hsien (MDS, FAMS) provides visiting oral and maxillofacial surgery. The orthodontist would work alongside this team on combined orthodontic, restorative and surgical cases.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Not yet. Dentalis currently provides clear aligner treatment (Invisalign) as its primary orthodontic offering. The orthodontist joining us would introduce and lead fixed orthodontic treatment — metal braces, ceramic braces and self-ligating systems — as part of expanding what the practice can offer. This is an opportunity to build a braces programme within a clinic that already has an established patient base and the clinical infrastructure to support it.

The existing patient base is predominantly CBD-professional adults aged 28–55. Referrals for orthodontic treatment would initially come from within the practice — patients of Dr Jonathan Liu who have been considering alignment treatment. As braces become an established offering, direct enquiries would follow. The case mix is adult-focused, though adolescent cases are not excluded. Volume and composition are discussed in detail with shortlisted candidates.

Trained dental assistants support all clinical sessions — including iTero scanning, bracket bonding, wire changes and chairside documentation. The front desk team manages appointments, reminders and patient communication independently. You focus on the clinical work.

Remuneration is competitive and discussed directly with shortlisted candidates. The structure depends on scope, arrangement type (full-time or part-time) and the shape of the orthodontic programme being built. Our approach is to structure compensation fairly — without tying clinical incentives to overtreatment or volume targets.

Full SAB accreditation is required to practise under the specialist title in Singapore. If you are nearing the end of your accreditation process, we are happy to receive your application and discuss timeline. Please state your current registration status clearly in your introductory email.

Yes. The role is available part-time and the arrangement is flexible. If you are looking to step back from principal responsibilities while continuing specialist orthodontic work, we are happy to discuss what a suitable arrangement would look like. Please outline your current situation in your introductory email.
