What Is the CHAS Enhanced Dental Subsidy?

The CHAS enhanced dental subsidy is an update to Singapore's Community Health Assist Scheme that increases support for dental care — specifically restorative treatment — for eligible Singapore Citizens. The enhanced subsidies apply from 1 October 2025.

Who Is Eligible?

You may be eligible if you are a Singapore Citizen, hold a CHAS Blue or CHAS Orange card, and visit a CHAS-accredited dental clinic. Subsidy amounts depend on your CHAS tier, the type of dental treatment, and MOH fee benchmarks.

The biggest change is higher subsidy caps for restorative treatments — meaning lower out-of-pocket costs for necessary dental work, encouraging earlier treatment instead of waiting until pain worsens.

What Treatments Are Covered?

Preventive Care (Continues)

  • Dental consultation
  • Scaling and polishing
  • Basic fillings
  • Simple extractions

Restorative Care (Enhanced)

  • Complex fillings
  • Root canal treatment
  • Denture-related treatment
  • Selected crown cases (subject to MOH benchmarks)

Subsidies applied only when clinically necessary.

What CHAS Does Not Cover

CHAS does not cover teeth whitening, veneers, Invisalign or braces, or cosmetic bonding. CHAS is designed for essential oral healthcare, not aesthetic procedures.

Can CHAS Be Combined with Medisave?

Generally, CHAS and Medisave are not used together for the same dental procedure. Eligibility rules differ depending on treatment type. Always confirm before starting treatment. See our Medisave dental guide →

How Dentalis Approaches CHAS Dental Care

CHAS accreditation is only the starting point. At Dentalis, fees are explained before treatment begins, subsidies are applied transparently, treatment is planned conservatively, and care is guided by clinical experience, not volume. All CHAS cases are currently overseen by Dr Jonathan Liu, a dentist with over 25 years of clinical experience in both private and subsidised care settings.
