Alliance Medinet at Dentalis

Direct Billing (Cashless) or Self-Pay by Patients

Alliance Medinet is a Third-Party Administrator (TPA) — a healthcare network manager that processes dental claims and manages panel clinics on behalf of your actual insurer (such as Cigna, HSBC Life, Great Eastern, or Singlife) or your employer's self-funded benefits programme.

Dentalis, 52 Craig Rd, Singapore 089690, is a registered Alliance Medinet network dental clinic serving CBD professionals in Tanjong Pagar, Raffles Place, and Shenton Way.

Claims are submitted by Dentalis via the Alliance Medinet eClaim system on the same day as your appointment — no paperwork required from you.

Some Alliance Medinet policyholders are directed by their plan to pay first and submit a self-claim reimbursement. This depends on your specific plan type and Table of Benefits — not on the clinic. Check your benefit card, WhatsApp us your card before your visit and we will confirm your pathway.

Billing

Direct billing — eClaim same day, co-pay only, no paperwork

Self-claim — patient pays, same-day documentation for reimbursement

“For insurance patients, the most important step is confirming your pathway before treatment begins. A quick check before your visit removes uncertainty and lets us focus entirely on your care.”

— Dr Jonathan Liu · BDS (NUS) · SDC Reg. D21395J · Principal Dentist and Founder, Dentalis

Cashless or Not?

Is Dental Treatment Always Cashless with Alliance Medinet?

No — Alliance Medinet dental treatment is cashless only for covered treatments within your annual limit and without pre-authorisation requirements. At Dentalis, we confirm your eligibility and coverage before any treatment begins — so there are no surprises at checkout.

When It Is Cashless

  • Treatment is covered under your plan
  • Annual benefit limit not yet exceeded
  • No pre-authorisation required
  • Dentalis submits via Alliance Medinet eClaim on the day

When You Still Pay Something

  • Co-payment applies for partially covered treatments
  • Annual benefit limit has been exceeded
  • Treatment falls outside coverage (cosmetic, elective)
  • Pre-authorisation not approved before treatment

When Pre-Authorisation Is Required

  • Root canal treatment or crowns above plan threshold
  • Dental implants (most plans require GOP)
  • Wisdom tooth surgery (major classification)
  • Any treatment above your plan's single-item limit

Dentalis confirms your coverage status and flags any pre-authorisation requirements before treatment begins. WhatsApp us your benefit card before your visit for the fastest eligibility check.

Not Always Cashless

Some Alliance Medinet Policyholders Self-Claim

Alliance Medinet administers both direct billing and self-claim plans. Whether you pay first depends on your specific policy — not on Dentalis. Your benefit card and Table of Benefits will state which applies. If your plan requires self-claim, Dentalis provides full same-day documentation for your reimbursement submission.

Direct Billing

Cashless at Dentalis

Your plan qualifies for direct billing at Dentalis — no upfront payment for covered treatment. Dentalis submits the eClaim to Alliance Medinet on the day. You pay only any co-payment or uncovered balance.

How to identify: Your card states "Direct Billing" or your HR confirms this applies at panel clinics.

Self-Claim

Pay First, Claim Reimbursement

Your plan requires you to pay Dentalis after treatment, then submit a reimbursement claim to Alliance Medinet or your insurer directly. Dentalis provides a fully itemised invoice and supporting documents on the same day.

How to identify: Your Table of Benefits shows a reimbursement percentage. Your card may not reference a panel clinic network.

Typical Coverage — Cigna via Alliance Medinet (Self-Claim Plan)

The table below shows a representative self-claim plan. Your plan's reimbursement percentages and covered treatments may differ — always refer to your own Table of Benefits.

C. Restorative Major 50% Gold inlay fillings · Crowns & bridges · Dentures · Dental implants · Mouth guard

MediSave & Alliance Medinet

Can I Use MediSave and Alliance Medinet Together?

No. MediSave and Alliance Medinet dental benefits cannot be used for the same procedure — you choose one or the other per claim. But which to use is not always obvious, and the answer depends on your plan's coverage. If your Alliance Medinet plan reimburses 80% of a procedure and your co-payment is only 20%, it is worth considering using your insurance rather than MediSave — because MediSave is still your own money. It sits in your CPF account and retains value. Spending it now reduces your balance permanently. The decision is yours, and Dentalis will walk through both options with you before treatment begins.

Consider using Alliance Medinet when

  • Your plan covers 70–100% of the procedure — your co-payment is small and insurance is effectively covering most of the cost
  • The procedure is not MediSave-claimable (fillings, root canal, crowns, scaling, dentures)
  • You want to preserve your MediSave balance for procedures not covered by your plan, or for future use
  • Your CPF balance is limited and you have remaining insurance benefit for this policy year

Using your insurance where coverage is strong is generally the more efficient choice — it leaves your CPF savings intact.

Consider using MediSave when

  • Your Alliance Medinet annual limit has been reached or the procedure falls outside your plan coverage
  • The procedure is MediSave-claimable — surgical wisdom tooth removal or dental implants — and your plan's co-payment is high
  • You are not enrolled in an Alliance Medinet plan, or your plan does not cover the specific procedure
  • MediSave covers more of the cost than your insurance co-payment structure would

MediSave claimable procedures: surgical wisdom tooth removal · dental implants (surgical component). Simple extractions and non-surgical procedures are not MediSave-claimable.

MediSave limits (2026): wisdom tooth surgery up to $1,120 per tooth (standard surgical) or $1,390 (complex) + $300 surgical consumables · dental implants up to $1,120 per implant + $830 surgical consumables. A single procedure must use one scheme only. Dentalis will explain both pathways and the cost difference before treatment begins — the decision is yours. See the MediSave dental guide.

Common Question

How Does Alliance Medinet Differ from Direct Cigna Dental Insurance?

Many Cigna cardholders in Singapore are covered through Alliance Medinet as the TPA — which means their Cigna dental benefits are administered and billed through the Alliance Medinet network. Other Cigna cardholders hold standalone Cigna Global plans that operate outside the Alliance Medinet system and require self-claim reimbursement via the Cigna Envoy portal.
