A Tooth Worth Preserving

There is often a quiet hesitation before treatment.

A small discomfort. A lingering sensitivity. A thought left for later.

Because if it does not hurt enough, perhaps it can wait.

A tooth does not fail all at once. It softens quietly — from a small area of decay, a hairline fracture, or a surface worn by time.

A filling is not a major procedure. It is simply the moment you choose to preserve what is still intact.

At Dentalis, tooth fillings are approached with restraint and intention — to restore only what is necessary, and to do so before more is lost.

Tooth sensitivity — a sign you may need a filling

When Do You Need a Filling?

Not All Cavities Cause Pain

In many cases, the earliest signs are subtle — and easily missed. Watch for:

  • Sensitivity to cold, sweet, or biting pressure
  • Food trapping between teeth
  • Dark spots or visible holes on the tooth surface
  • Rough or chipped edges
  • Intermittent discomfort when chewing

Left untreated, decay deepens. What could have been a simple filling may eventually require more complex treatment.

Is It Painful?

Controlled. Unhurried. Predictable.

This is often the first question — and understandably so.

With modern techniques, most fillings are completed with minimal discomfort.

At Dentalis, we use computer-assisted anaesthesia, Calaject, designed to deliver numbing gently and precisely.

The experience is managed from start to finish.

What We Use

Composite Resin. Bonded. Seamless. Precise.

If fillings once conjured unsightly spots of dark metal, that era has passed. At Dentalis, we use tooth-coloured composite resin — a material that bonds directly to enamel and dentine, allowing for a more conservative approach that preserves more of your natural tooth structure.

Unlike traditional amalgam, which relies on mechanical retention, composite bonds chemically to the tooth.

Why Act Early

Early Treatment Keeps Things Simple

A small cavity does not need to become something more.

An early assessment often means simpler care — and the preservation of your natural tooth.

The result should feel natural — as though nothing has changed. Except that the tooth is now protected.

The Process: Dental Filling

What to Expect at Dentalis

We begin with a thorough, unhurried assessment — a careful clinical examination, digital X-ray where required, and an open conversation about what we find and what we recommend.

Nothing proceeds without your understanding.

  1. Assessment & X-ray

A thorough clinical examination and, if required, digital X-ray to confirm the extent of decay or damage. We discuss findings clearly and agree on a plan before anything begins.

  2. Shade Selection

Composite resin is matched to the shade of your surrounding teeth, ensuring the restoration is imperceptible once complete.

  3. Anaesthesia & Decay Removal

Local anaesthesia is administered via Calaject — gentle and precise. Decay is removed and the cavity cleaned and shaped for optimal bonding.

  4. Bonding & Layering

An adhesive is applied and composite resin is built up in thin layers, each cured with a light between applications to ensure strength and structural integrity.

  5. Sculpting, Polishing & Bite Check

The restoration is shaped to the tooth’s natural contours, polished to a seamless finish, and adjusted to ensure comfortable, balanced chewing.

Clinical Suitability

When a Filling May Not Be Enough

A filling is most appropriate when the tooth structure can still be predictably restored. In some cases, a different treatment may be needed to protect the tooth long term.

Consideration 01

Deep decay close to the nerve

Consideration 02

Large fractures or weakened cusps

Consideration 03

Persistent pain or infection

"The best filling is no filling at all. But when one is necessary, it should last — and it should be invisible. I remove only what needs to be removed. The goal is to leave the tooth stronger than I found it, not simply filled."

Why Patients Choose Dentalis

Restraint is a form of precision.

  • Conservative by default — we remove only what needs to be removed. Composite bonding allows us to preserve more natural tooth structure than traditional methods.
  • Gentle, precise numbing — Calaject® delivers anaesthesia with greater precision and less discomfort than a conventional syringe. A meaningful difference for anxious patients.
  • Unhurried appointments — each appointment is given the time it deserves. We do not rush restorations. The result is better when the process is careful.
  • Aesthetic integrity — shade matching and contouring are considered as carefully as clinical outcome. A filling should be invisible. We hold that standard.
